Emergency Ambulance Services

We provide emergency ambulance services to the communities of Durham, Lee, Madbury and the University of NH. Our active members are professional EMT's who have dedicated themselves to delivering the highest possible standard of care to their fellow residents, students and neighbors.

42 Year Commitment to Excellence

This year we celebrate our 42nd anniversary providing exemplary emergency services to the community. McGregor Memorial EMS maintains an organizational commitment to excellence, and prides itself on being one of the most highly trained and professionally organized ambulance services in the state:

Commitment to Compassionate Service

Compassionate service has been a hallmark of McGregor's service to the community. In thank-you letters and surveys, patient after patient has commented that the compassion and respect shown by McGregor Memorial EMS to them and their families made a fundamental difference in the quality of their care. The experience of our patients is confirmed by national surveys that support the view that compassionate care yields better medical outcomes.

Unique Opportunity for Community Service

New Hampshire towns have historically enjoyed a strong ethic of community service. Our volunteer fire and EMS organizations are a fundamental part of the "core fiber" that helps preserve and maintain our central character. McGregor Memorial EMS exemplifies this ethic. We work closely with the local volunteer fire departments, whose members provide excellent first responder care and with whom we share several volunteers.

Positive Relationship Between University, University Students, and Towns

Every day, the commitment of our student volunteers enhances the positive image of UNH and its students. Moreover, it is one of the key ways in which the University "gives back" to the surrounding communities.

Core Feeder Organization for EMS, Fire, and Hospital Organizations in the Seacoast Area

With its unique focus on training and continuing education, McGregor Memorial EMS has trained hundreds of EMT's who have gone on to careers as EMT's, doctors, nurses, firefighters and police officers in the Seacoast area and beyond.

Preparedness for Large Scale Incidents

In today's environment, prudence requires that we be prepared in the event that a large scale incident occurs at any of the large sports, entertainment, educational or transportation venues located in our communities. With our large corps of volunteers, we can rapidly deploy the EMS personnel required to begin management and treatment of the ill and injured. A large, dedicated EMS capability frees our dedicated firefighters to focus on the fire, rescue and haz-mat aspects of such an incident.

Planning for the future

To maintain operational readiness, we recently purchased a third ambulance. We continue to make two full-time ambulances available for active service. The third, older ambulance is maintained as a reserve unit to provide back-up in the event that one of the other ambulances is out-of-service, as well as provide additional capacity for special events.

History

"Volunteerism" and "service to community" are values central to the communities of New Hampshire. These values have been at the heart of McGregor throughout its history and continue to guide our thoughts as we plan for the future.
