Record setting CPR class to be held at White Mountain Regional. More than 250 school teachers and staff to be trained at once.

Whitefield, NH, September, 2009 – On Tuesday September 1st, the White Mountain Regional School District in cooperation with McGregor Memorial EMS will set the New Hampshire CPR record by training all of the more than 250 district staff in CPR, the use of an AED, and the skills of First Aid.  Through this unique and inspiring effort, each and every school in the district will be certified by McGregor as a CPR Safe ™ school.

Working closely with McGregor, a non-profit EMS and community educational outreach agency, the White Mountain Regional School District staff will be dedicating professional development time to learning how to save a life.  Through hands on training with life-like manikins and practice AEDs, McGregor instructors will lead the staff through the compressions and rescue breaths of CPR, as well as the lifesaving application of the school’s defibrillators.

What makes a CPR Safe school?

  1. The school has made child health and safety a priority through staff professional development, day-to-day operations, student wellness education, and CPR certifications.
  2. At least 75% of the school staff is certified in Adult, Child, and Infant CPR and has been trained in the use of an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED).
  3. The school is equipped with an AED, which is easily accessible to all.

The White Mountain Regional School District will have exceeded these requirements and are a leading example of the dedication of New Hampshire’s schoolteachers.  The commitment to the health and safety of New Hampshire’s school children by the faculty, staff, and administration of the White Mountain Regional School District will earn it the CPR Safeä certification.  CPR Safeä both recognizes that commitment and, ultimately, makes schools and communities safer places for all. The staff and administration of the White Mountain Regional School District has shown that they continually strive for excellence in education in all areas of the learning environment.

McGregor designed the CPR Safeä program as a school-friendly project in order to assist schools in training and certifying teachers and staff in American Heart Association CPR and AED use.  Working with the dedicated and committed educators in our state, McGregor’s goal is to promote CPR training and preparedness in all New Hampshire schools.
