Financial Assistance Program

McGregor Memorial EMS is committed to providing high quality education and opportunities for advancement to current and prospective volunteers.  To this end, McGregor offers a financial assistance program to individuals wishing to obtain or advance their certification.

Assistance recipients have their course paid for by McGregor.  In exchange, the recipient agrees to volunteer for McGregor for a set period of time (typically about two years.)  Recipients not able to complete their volunteer obligation pay the prorated cost of the course as specified in the Training Contract.

To qualify, prospective volunteers must meet each of the following criteria:

  • Be a permanent resident of Durham, Lee, Madbury or the surrounding area.

  • Have completed the membership application process.

  • Provide a letter stating their intent to volunteer with McGregor upon successful completion of the course and explaining why they would make a good candidate to receive the assistance.

  • Complete a Training Contract which obligates the recipient to pay for the course if they do not fulfill their volunteer obligation.

Current McGregor volunteers wishing to advance their certification must:

  • Be in good standing with McGregor.

  • Complete a Training Contract which obligates the recipient to pay for the course if they do not fulfill their volunteer obligation.

Questions regarding the Financial Assitance Program should be directed to the Membership Coordinator at membership@mcgregorems.org.
